Facebook Bug Results In Decreasing Fan Counts
Over the past few days many Facebook Page administrators have noticed their fan counts decreasing. If you’ve seen this happen, you are not alone. We’ve reached out to Facebook but haven’t received a response on the issue, which means there is probably a bug which needs to be fixed. Unfortunately there hasn’t been any clarifications from Facebook, but don’t worry as many other people have noticed similar issues. We watched our Facebook Page increasing in popularity earlier this week, however starting three days ago, the number of fans we have has decreased by over 400. Initially I thought that there had been a temporary surge in fans which was followed by a random mass “unfanning”, something that has never taken place to us before.
On The Facebook Platform The Long Tail Is Non-Existent
Want to know how the Facebook Platform is currently performing? One of the best indicators is the application distribution based on the number of daily active users (DAUs). While the historical shift of this is also important, we thought we’d take a moment to provide an approximate snapshot of the current Facebook Platform. While DAUs change from day to day, this chart should provide a greater understanding of the current distribution of applications. It’s Good To Be On Top The most significant statistics is that approximately 4,500 applications on the Facebook Platform currently have more than 200 DAUs. We would also argue that there are only 1,597 applications on Facebook that are generating any measurable amount of revenue, with that being the number of applications with more than 2,000 DAUs. In our database we’ve found over 41,000 applications with between 1 and 100 DAUs, and almost a quarter of a million applications with no DAUs
Yes, Facebook Is Talking To Foursquare
Recently we heard from sources close to Facebook that the company was in conversations with Foursquare about a potential acquisition and/or some form of partnership. Unfortunately the details have been slim but Kara Swisher is also hearing things as well. The most apparent thing about these conversations is that Facebook has yet to finalize their plans for location. One thing that’s clearly appealing about Foursquare is their ability to already monetize. The company has launched branded partnerships with the History Channel, Bravo, MTV, VH1, Zagat, the Wall Street Journal, and more. Facebook wants to be able to help improve their small business marketing portfolio and location is increasingly going to play a role in this space.
Facebook Hoodie Surpasses $4,000 On eBay
If you want to get your hands on a coveted Facebook hoodie, like the one Mark Zuckerberg was wearing during his interview with Kara Swisher at the D conference, you’re going to have to shell out more than $4,000. That’s because one enterprising employee decided to place his (or her) hoodie up for sale on eBay. While I’m all for purchasing stylish clothing, dishing out $4,000 for an official Facebook hoodie seems pretty extreme. Then again, there’s no doubt that this hoodie is extremely limited, and it’s doubtful that more of these will be printed anytime soon. Whichever Facebook employee decided to pawn off their hoodie will most definitely have rent taken care of for at least a couple months. With 48 bids and just over 1 day left on bidding, it’s doubtful that the price will rise much higher.
Kid Sleeping During Obama Speech Goes Viral On Facebook
While some people missed the event, thousands of Facebook users noticed a kid sleeping during a graduation speech given by Barack Obama. The kid who fell asleep now has a fan page dedicated to him with close to 11,000 fans. While it’s not a massive number of Facebook users, it’s impressive that so many people noticed the kid sleeping during a mid-day event and turned to Facebook to share the experience. The video, which is embedded below, has over 400,000 views and is continuing to grow pretty quickly. I partially feel bad for the kid that went through the experience of having him sleeping during a speech broadcast to the country. Then again, I doubt that he’ll go into a job interview anytime soon and have the interviewer recognize him as the person sleeping during Obama’s graduation talk, ultimately preventing him from getting the job. You can watch the video of the kid sleeping below and join the fan page here .
